Josiah Healing Centre

DICE Contracting have assisted Uncle Ike to fulfil his life-long dream to build a community centre and church in Brewarrina. 5 years ago Brewarrina had the highest suicide rate of any country town in Australia and the average life span of a male Aboriginal in Brewarrina was only 42 years. Uncle Ike’s vision is to end this cycle and give kids and young people a meaning in life. To overcome grief, but also establish connections, friendships, have a purpose and fun in life.

DICE Contracting have organised volunteers and donated materials, labour and time to turn an old clothing store into Uncle Ike’s dream: Josiah Healing Centre. With a café where teenagers can be trained in hospitality. A shop where Aboriginal art can be sold. A gym where young people can sweat out their anger. A meeting facility for AA and youth meetings. A recording studio where young musicians find their voice.
